There will be no student or staff attendance on Wednesday, June 19th in observance of Juneteenth.

Everyone, The flooring project for the High school will begin next week. If you need to come to the High School please park in the front parking lot starting 05/28/24. There will be equipment in the back for the contractor working on the floors. So, parking will be restricted in the back lot until the construction is finished or is no longer needed by the contractor.

Sandoval Elementary School recently recognized the Students of the Month for May.
The students were chosen because of their outstanding display of COURAGE,
such as doing the right thing in the face of difficulty and being a leader not a
follower. The assembly this month was sponsored by our Sandoval PTO.
Those selected were Malcolm Reynolds, Hunter Avants, Rhett McHenry, Gracelyn Hernandez, Jayden Lagrone, Aliyana Timmons, Deacon Moseley, Declan Tongate, Journey Bryan, Alaric Hunter, Kyler Skurat, Kentley Lyons, Dillon Boatright and Hope Dennick.

Today, we are having pictures taken during the afternoon dress rehearsal. Please remind your child to bring their cap and gown. The 8th grade promotion is scheduled for today at 6:00 p.m. The promotion ceremony will take place in the gym of Sandoval Jr./Sr. High School. Students and participants will need to arrive at the school 45 minutes prior to their ceremony start time and report to the cafeteria. Also, today we have a 2:20 dismissal from school to give everyone more time to get ready for tonight's ceremony.

Due to an updated weather bulletin from the National Weather Service Sandoval CUSD will be DISMISSING AT 1:15PM from the Grade School and 1:25 at the Jr-Sr High School!

Sandoval Jr-Sr High School and Sandoval Grade School are monitoring the severe weather threat for today. We dismiss today at 2:10pm as scheduled for every Wednesday. In the event that we are under a "National Weather Service Tornado Warning" during dismissal time, we WILL NOT dimiss students until the warning has been lifted. Both buildings are considered safe shelters and we will follow our tornado warning safety procedures per our Building Safety Plan Handbook. Parents are allowed to pick up their child before dismissal if the parent so chooses without any absentee penalty to the student.

Mr. Henson, School Social Worker will be offering a Summer Group counseling for students emphasizing Social-Emotional learning. I will be offering classes from the Second Step program for Elementary aged (grades 3-5) students and School Connect for Jr/Sr High (grades 6-12) students. Please see the attached schedule for dates and times. Respond back by May 17th to RSVP if you want your student to be enrolled. Grade level is based on the grade your student will be entering in Fall 2024. If they are already taking a summer class, they cannot take the SEL class. Bus transportation is available.

Blackhawk Community:
Friday, April 26,2024 Sandoval High School will be holding an assembly for Sandoval Patoka, and Odin school students. The mock crash will use real crashed vehicles and participants to act out roles of crash victims. There will be live sirens, fire trucks, ambulances, and a helicopter present. Please do not be alarmed by the EMS participating at the school event !

We have some exciting news over in Pre-K.!! We have started incubating chicken eggs in the classroom.. It will take up to 21 days to hatch the chicks. Our kids are super excited and are hoping we will have some baby chicks soon!

Setup/ Decorating starting at 3:00pm. Any junior student or parent is welcome to help.
Mock Prom Crash - CANCELED on April 12th due to local first responders attending a funeral service. Rescheduled for April 19th
Saturday, April 13
Doors open at 6:45 for students
Dance will be from 7:00-10:00 pm
Students will need to bring their change of clothes for post prom with them when they arrive for the night.
Once in the school building students will not be allowed to go out to their vehicles.
At 10:00, students will help clean up and take down decorations before leaving for the night.
11:00 pm - Students will load up on buses and travel to The Edge, Belleville, IL for a lock in from 11:00 pm - 5:00 am.
Students will arrive back at Sandoval for attendance prizes and breakfast. Students will be able to leave at 6:00am from campus if driving.

REMINDER: Sandoval CUSD #501 will dismiss at 11:30am (Grade School) and 11:40am (Jr-Sr High School) tomorrow Monday, April 8th! Lunch will be provided to all students. Sandoval Pre-K both morning and afternoon will not be in session!

Blackhawk Families: The Elementary, Jr. High , and Sr. High schools will be closed Thursday, March 28th, Friday, March 29th and Monday, April, 1st for Easter break. We will be in session again on Tuesday, April 2nd. We hope you will enjoy the time with your family and friends. We will see you again next Tuesday!
